Yoga Photoshoot

My most popular and arguably best shots ever came from a photoshoot with Devon Sweeney in the summer of 2009.  We loved how they turned out and, this summer, tried our luck at some other locations.  This was my first time shooting with my new 5d MKII and I think the shots came out great!  I can't wait to shoot more with this body.

Our first location was Bears Den, a rocky mountaintop in Bluemont, Virginia.  We finished up the shoot and  right as we climbed down the mountain it started to pour.  That storm eventually  knocked out the power for the rest of the night.

We had a few other locations in mind, but obviously couldn't make it due to the storm.  We decided to head over to her studio to get some indoor shots.  While shooting, I was a bit undecided as to whether I liked the shots or not.  They were looking a bit plain.  After I uploaded them and put them through photoshop, I decided I absolutely love how they turned out.  Sometimes the more simple, the better.

Enjoy

The First True Post: A Little About Myself

I recently invested in a Canon 5d MKII.  Before I bought it, I promised myself that, with this new piece of equipment, I will attempt to advance my photography in any way possible.  Hopefully this blog will be a good tool to get some exposure and keep people interested in my work.

I started shooting at about age 12.  I was big into paintball at the time and players use to love getting their pictures taken.  Occasionally I'd take my moms camera out to get some pictures and make some movies of our practices.  My interest gradually grew strong enough to the point where I saved up to buy my first camera:  A Canon 350d with a 70-200L f/4.  Eventually I expanded my genre of subjects to the horse world, which became a good source of income.  I purchased my own photo printer and was able to fund all of my photography equipment by shooting horse events and selling prints to the riders.  I am currently willing to shoot anything and try to shoot as much as possible.  I really have no clue where my photography will go from here.

My current set up is:

Bodies:
Canon 5d MKII
Canon 20d
Canon A2E Film
Ricoh Film

Lenses:
28mm f/1.8
50mm f/1.8
70-200 f/4

Lighting:
An old vivitar 550 flash

Editing Software:
Adobe Photoshop CS3

You can check out all of my past work at my Flickr or Portfolio.
All my recent work will be posted here or on my flickr from now on.

I hope this goes somewhere!
